RI Mazumdar Young Investigator Endowment Fund
Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is India’s premier destination for advanced science and technology research, renowned for its academic freedom, excellence in education, and innovative, interdisciplinary initiatives. For over a century, IISc has hosted, nurtured and produced outstanding visionaries and leaders who have built and headed scientific and industrial powerhouses across the country and abroad. IISc’s illustrious and accomplished alumni have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of science and technology worldwide.
Mazumdar Shaw Philanthropy’s gift has been used to endow a Chair at IISc. The fund supports bright, young faculty members who undertake cutting edge research in bioengineering and related areas.
The RI Mazumdar Young Investigator position was instrumental in the establishment of a new line of work in my laboratory that focused on the long term effects of nano- and micro-particles in the body. Without this support, it would have been impossible for us to ask this important but ambitious question. During an interaction event, I was pleasantly surprised when Kiran asked me precise, relevant and critical questions about the research we were pursuing. That conversation showed me how much she cared about supporting the scientific pursuit.”
