Biocon General Medicine Wing, PG Medical School

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is India’s premier destination for advanced science and technology research, renowned for its academic freedom, excellence in education, and innovative, interdisciplinary initiatives. Through the establishment of a medical school, IISc is fostering interdisciplinary research and creating the next generation of physician-scientists in India, to address the healthcare needs of the world.

Mazumdar Shaw Philanthropy, together with Biocon Foundation has funded the Biocon General Medicine Wing of the IISc Medical School. This wing aims to be at the forefront of efforts to tackle some of the toughest challenges in medicine today.

There is a critical need for creating physician-scientists who can provide innovative solutions for the healthcare challenges plaguing India and the world. The funding from Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw will enable us to offer unique MD/PhD and MD/MS programmes in our upcoming postgraduate medical school and multispeciality hospital.
